The Story of Hazrat Ayyub (AS) in the Quran and Hadith

The Story of Ayyub (AS) in the Quran and Hadith,

The story of Hazrat Ayyub (AS) in the Quran and Hadith (narrations of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) provides additional details about his trials, patience, and ultimate restoration. While the Quran provides the foundational account, Hadith narrations offer further insights and explanations. Here is an overview of the story as mentioned in the Quran and Hadith:

In the Quran, Hazrat Ayyub (AS) is described as a righteous servant of Allah who faced severe trials and tribulations. Despite his immense suffering, he remained patient and steadfast in his faith.

The Quran mentions that Satan approached Allah, suggesting that Hazrat Ayyub (AS) was only obedient because of the blessings bestowed upon him. Satan proposed to test Hazrat Ayyub (AS) by taking away his wealth, family, and health, expecting him to abandon his faith.

Allah accepted Satan's challenge, but He also granted Hazrat Ayyub (AS) the ability to endure the hardships. As a result, Hazrat Ayyub (AS) lost his wealth and his children, and he was afflicted with a severe skin disease that caused him immense pain.

Despite the calamities that befell him, Hazrat Ayyub (AS) did not complain or become disheartened. He remained patient and turned to Allah in supplication, seeking His mercy and relief. In his moments of distress, he prayed:

"And (remember) Job when He cried to His Lord, 'Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful.'" (Quran 21:83)

Hazrat Ayyub (AS) endured his suffering for a prolonged period, and his condition worsened to the point that people shunned him and he was isolated. However, he maintained his faith and trust in Allah.

According to Hadith narrations, it is mentioned that during his affliction, Hazrat Ayyub (AS) would scrape his body with a broken piece of pottery to relieve the unbearable itch caused by his disease. Even in this state, he remained patient and continued to supplicate to Allah.

Eventually, Allah answered Hazrat Ayyub's (AS) prayers and instructed him to strike the ground with his foot. As a result, a spring of water emerged, and Hazrat Ayyub (AS) was commanded to bathe in it. When he did as instructed, he was cured of his illness, and his skin became restored.

Furthermore, Allah bestowed upon Hazrat Ayyub (AS) new children and doubled his previous wealth, returning him to a state of prosperity.

The story of Hazrat Ayyub (AS) serves as a lesson in patience, perseverance, and trust in Allah's wisdom and mercy. It teaches believers to remain steadfast in faith, even in the face of severe trials, knowing that Allah's mercy and relief can come at any moment.

It's worth noting that while the core elements of Hazrat Ayyub's (AS) story are found in the Quran and Hadith, there may be variations in the details and additional narratives that are mentioned in various commentaries and traditions.
